This website was created for free and open source software developers. Their goal has been to be a resource for free software developers around the world and a research test bed for group trust metrics and other social networking technologies.

It’s free to join but seems a little difficult to use and registration is open to all individuals of all ages.

This website is a mixture of myspace, twitter, and facebook. It allows users to speak with other users and share music, articles, pictures, and view your email whenever you would like on this one site; It also possesses its own toolbar. It’s free to join and seems easy and fun to use and the site is open to ages 13 and older.

Black Planet
This website caters to the black community. It is mobile so you can receive up to date texts as you would on facebook. It’s used for networking, chat, blog, music/fashion updates, and employment opportunities/help/advice. It’s free to join and easy to use and the site is open to all ages. 

This website is utilized for helping individuals find, connect, and stay in touch with friends they have met throughout their lives through school, work, and the military. Basic membership is free, allows members to look at other members' profiles and enables them to post on public message boards; they are not able to send emails. Gold members who pay a fee are allowed to send and receive emails and view others who have visited other individuals' pages. The site is open to all ages.

This website was originally used for college students to get to know each other before attending college. It then branched out to other colleges and is now just a social networking site where profiles are created and the sharing of pictures, messages, and gaming applications can be shared and used. It’s free to access and use the site as well. The site is open to ages 13 and older to join different networks.

This website was created for the sharing of images between users. The website is also used for blogging; however, there is no profile necessary for its use. The website is open to users of all ages.

This website is for the sharing of articles, pictures, videos and group discussions. It is free to join, and there are fewer applications available for download by users so the pages don’t run slow. It is usually used by an older demographic. The site is open to any individual of any age. 

MySpace is a social networking website with an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music, and videos for teenagers and adults internationally. You can have your own personal pages and chat with friends. The website is open to all users.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read each others' updates, known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters, displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to other users - known as followers - who have subscribed to them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. The service is free over the Internet, but using SMS may incur phone service provider fees. This website is open to all users.
